Scribble Booth & Signature Cam: A Brand Activation Planning Guide

A Scribble Booth, also called a Signature Cam, records guests writing or drawing on a transparent panel in front of a camera. The finished video combines their message, expression and your event branding.

This planning guide covers the guest journey, creative brief, space and production questions to resolve before booking. For a real activation, see our Dove FIFA World Cup case study; for venue logistics, use our NYC and Las Vegas production guide.

Plan the guest journey

  1. Give guests a prompt. A short message, team signature or drawing challenge makes it easier to start.
  2. Capture the moment. Guests write on the clear panel while the camera records their movement and reaction.
  3. Finish the branded video. Agree on logo placement, graphics, music and the final format before the event.
  4. Deliver and reset. Plan the sharing step, staff guidance and panel cleaning so the next guest can begin.

Build a useful creative brief

Start with the audience and campaign goal. A sports fan message, product-launch reveal and corporate celebration call for different prompts. Choose one simple action that guests can understand without a long explanation.

  • Prompt: What should the guest write or draw?
  • Branding: What belongs on the physical setup, backdrop and finished video?
  • Output: Which aspect ratio, end card and music treatment fit the intended channel?
  • Delivery: How will guests receive their content, and what consent is needed for any additional marketing use?
  • Approval: Who signs off on the test video and on-site setup?

Confirm space, lighting and staffing

Share the venue plan before confirming the layout. The capture area is only one part of the footprint: allow for the guest queue, staff access, reset and content delivery. Check power, internet, access times and load-in requirements with the venue.

Lighting affects how clearly the writing and guest appear together. Test the panel, markers, wardrobe and backdrop as one composition. Outdoor plans also need a suitable weather and lighting arrangement.

Run a complete rehearsal from guest arrival through delivery. Use it to establish a realistic operating pace for your prompt and event format instead of assuming a universal guests-per-hour figure.

Add a portable option when space is tight

Not every venue gives you room for a fixed kiosk and a full footprint. Red carpets, festival grounds, crowded cocktail hours and multi-room venues work better when the experience travels to the guest.

Studio Z now offers a portable Scribble Booth for exactly those settings. An attendant carries the writing panel through the crowd, guests sign, sketch or leave a message just like the full-size experience, and the branded video is delivered the same way. No dedicated footprint, no single-file queue in one corner of the room.

It suits smaller spaces, festivals, red carpets and roaming coverage between rooms, and it pairs naturally with the fixed setup: a kiosk as the anchor, a portable unit reaching the rest of the floor. If your venue plan is tight, this is often the difference between running the activation and skipping it.
